Wind Turbine Blade Replaced in Vydmantai Wind Park
Maintenance works ensuring the further smooth operation of wind turbines were carried out in one of the largest wind turbine parks in Western Lithuania owned by “Vydmantai Wind Park”. In the course of these works the blade of one of the wind turbines was replaced.
A minor technical defect – micro fracture in one blade – was noticed during the weekly monitoring of park operation. Upon noticing the defect, technicians of the German company carrying out the wind park maintenance were called in and they were the ones who made the decision to change the blade of the impeller of one of the wind turbines.
“It is especially important for us to ensure that the operation of the wind turbine park is safe and does not pose even the slightest threat to visitors of the area where wind turbines are functioning. Therefore, the company constantly monitors the park activity and, if necessary, performs all works ensuring safety”, says Raimondas Augustėnas, the Director of UAB “Vydmantai wind park”.
“Vydmantai Wind Park” is a subsidiary company of AB “INTER RAO Lietuva” established in 2011.
The company holds 30 МW wind turbine park in Western Lithuania, Kretinga district, close to Vydmantai and Kiauleikiai settlements in Kveciai and Rūdaičiai villages.
Electricity in the wind park is generated by 15 E-70 type wind turbines produced by German company Enercon GmbH, each with an installed capacity of 2 MW. This park of wind power plants is one of the first and one of the largest wind parks in Western Lithuania.
